VSP & VSP G-Series Storage Systems

Hitachi VSP Virtual Storage Platform

Spectra buys and sells Hitachi VSP G series storage systems. The Hitachi VSP (1st generation) is the younger brother of the enterprise class USP-V. At the same time the enterprise-level VSP storage array was being produced, Hitachi’s midrange line was called the AMS (Adaptable Modular Storage), and then superseded by the HUS (Hitachi Unified Storage) family of product. After going through the lifecycle of those systems, Hitachi unveiled their newest generation of midrange product, which was merged into the G-series product line.

This new 2nd generation of G series product included the G1000 (enterprise class) and the new midrange line – the G200, G400, G600, G800, G1000, and  lastly unveiling the revolutionary G1500 enterprise class array to supersede the G1000. And since the time of this writing, a 3rd generation of VSP G series midrange storage has emerged, the G350 and G700 series.
