The StreamLine™ SL500 modular library system is designed to meet mid-range
data protection and archiving requirements with the market’s most scalable, rack
mounted tape automation solution. By balancing your current storage needs with
future requirements, the SL500 helps increase your return on investment and
keeps you from overspending today.
Minimizing business risks and maintaining business continuity is also easier
with the StreamLine SL500. Its superior reliability and serviceability features
help you keep your critical business data available and accessible.
Features and IT Benefits
Reduce complexity -
The SL500 reduces data management complexity. It seamlessly supports multiple
applications in UNIX, Linux and Windows environments.
Improve reliability and accessibility -
The SL500 helps maintain system reliability, stability and the predictability of
backups with its redundant, hot-swappable power supplies and drives,
serviceability features, and monitoring, management and control tools.
Improve performance -
The SL500 can accommodate up to 18 tape drives, providing you with the
performance you need to meet your shrinking backup windows. The SL500 is an
ideal data protection solution for critical applications with fast data growth
rates, such as e-mail servers, database applications and enterprise file
servers.
Enable cost-effective and scalable growth -
As data volumes continue to grow, backup windows continue to shrink. Most
storage libraries in the midrange market quickly hit their capacity and
performance limits. Not so with the SL500. It can easily grow from 30 to 575 LTO
slots in a single rack mount configuration, and expansion modules are simple and
affordable.
Save space, cut costs -
The rack mountable approach and dense cartridge slot design makes the library an
excellent fit in environments where space is at a premium. Configure a
stand-alone tape automation rack, combine the SL500 in a rack with servers and
disk storage arrays, or even place a smaller version on a desktop.
Gain years of investment protection -
The SL500 provides you with an extremely adaptable platform designed to
accommodate your current and future storage consolidation and data protection
needs for years to come. With its flexible and modular design, the SL500 can
effectively serve as a mid-range library, a next-tier solution for organizations
using autoloaders and small libraries, and as a key component of a long-range
storage consolidation strategy.
Increase value with exceptional storage services -
StorageTek’s Implementation Services help you achieve the full benefits of your
storage solution investment. StorageTek® can work with you to establish host
connectivity to the library, integrate the library into your existing backup
operations and set up media controls.
