demanding NT, Novell, Linux and UNIX environments. Combining StorageTek’s
high-speed robotics with innovative upgradeability, the L40 tape library solves
growing data backup needs. StorageTek’s Adaptive Media Technology supports true
mixed-media within the same library without partitioning, for easy data
migration and upgrades. The L40 tape library is plug-and-play and provides
hot-swappable tape drives, fans and redundant power for ultimate high
availability and reliability that is backed by StorageTek’s proven reliability
and world-class support.
Applications
Disaster recovery -
L40 library backup tapes can be stored offsite, providing low-cost disaster
protection in distributed Windows, Novell, Linux and UNIX environments.
Backup and restore -
The L40 library, configured with tape drives and tape media, provides backup and
recovery for departments, applications and small data center environments using
Windows, Novell, Linux and UNIX operating systems.
Features and IT Benefits
Ease of use -
Any administrator can install, configure and operate the L40 library. Remote
monitoring and diagnostic tools simplify management.
Space, cost savings -
With the capacity to store up to 16 terabytes in a single unit, the L40 library
lets you store more data in less physical rack space, saving you both space and
money.
Enhanced data protection -
With its unmatched reliability and hands-free automation, the L40 library helps
you keep Open Systems data protected and available.
Easy expandability -
As your needs grow, you can easily add drives or cartridges, advance to new
drive technologies or swap to a larger library at a reduced price.
Any Cartridge Any Slot™ technology -
Support for multiple tape drive technologies lets you mix and match tape
technologies and migrate data seamlessly within the same library. The L40
library supports LTO Ultrium Gen 1, 2, and 3, SDLT 320 and 600.
Library Status Tool -
This tool’s Web-based remote diagnostic capabilities help you reduce operational
costs and enhance reliability.
SNMP trap -
An embedded SNMP agent facilitates network management and notification over an
Ethernet connection.
SAN-readiness -
The L40 tape library can be upgraded quickly and easily simply by adding drives,
increasing the number of tape slots or the addition of a Fibre Channel router.
