Extreme Networks range of modular chassis based switches include Alpine® and BlackDiamond® access and core switches, which provide a scalable path for expansion. Adding additional ports or functionality is as simple as plugging in another module or moving to a larger chassis. Switching modules are universal and can be used interchangeably within product lines thereby reducing the need to stock a multitude of various spare cards.
Extreme Networks switches provide hardware features such as QOS, Access Control Lists, and statistic gathering at line rate speeds. Large switching table sizes and packet buffering ensure that Extremes' switches can scale in network bandwidth and scope while minimizing latency and jitter, which cause problems with delay sensitive VOIP and/or video data. At the chassis level, redundant components allow in service maintenance.
Extreme Networks multi-layered security includes switch-level authentication and extensive ACLs that allow definition and implementation of complex policies without degrading switch performance. Extreme Networks switches also detect and deflect DOS attacks without sacrificing line-speed forwarding.
